Well, I guess part of the job of owning a blog is to write about the good, the bad, and the U-G-L-Y. So I'll keep it short & sweet. That game wouldn't have been a "good game" even if we'd actually pulled it out. My beloved hokies, you played like shit. Except you, Tyrod. The first half reminded me of the 1999 BCS Championship game when the only player on the field who appeared to be playing was your (spurned) Michael Vick.
There wasn't one thing that can be blamed (like most games, when we place 99% of the blame on Stinespring). All around there were miscues, weak special teams, a virtually non-existent O line, and a certain #18 that caused us 30 yards in one play. All these things caused the play calling to be both risky and reserved. And were was the 2 headed monster running attack? There has to be some tricks up someone's sleeves to better utilize those two. And no one can hate on the "murdered out" uni's... they looked pretty awesome.
But alas, for the third year in a row, the Hokies fall in game number one. To the Hokie Nation, the money made from a game like that means nothing when there's no W next to it. All we can hope for now is that from here on out, there are no more L's and that gets recognized in December. But the sports world has a short memory.
Next year, is anyone rethinking App State as the opener?
Love the last line...should be thinking of playing some cupcakes in the first two weeks. The Hokie record proves that the first two weeks are a HUGE question mark for the Hokies. Take a page out of the Nebraska's scheduling....Week 1 - Western Kentucky...Week 2 - IdaHO. Tune up games, get the kinks worked out, and get ready for the conference games. Oh, the Hokie O-Line sucked HARD!!! No pocket protection, no gaps for Williams, Evans, and why didn't Wilson run the ball?!
ReplyDeleteHokies, I give you credit, you didn't lie down like a dog after the 17-0 deficit....you prevailed and made it a game. You showed guts and a GREAT attitude but I wished you closed the game out and SHUT-UP the Boise St./title talk....
